CE Hour Requirements for Maryland Veterinarians
Maryland veterinarians must obtain 18 hours of CE every year. All 18 hours can be obtained online.
CE Course Parameters for Maryland Veterinarians
Remember that when completing your required CE, there are some topic limitations.
At least 12 of your 18 hours must be directed toward improvement, advancement, and extension of professional skill and knowledge relating to veterinary medicine. You can't take more than 6 hours directed toward non-scientific subjects related to the practice of veterinary medicine such as practice management topics, communications skills, state regulatory programs, or federal regulatory programs.
You can complete all 18 required CE hours online. This is a great opportunity for you to pick the CE that best meets your needs as a busy practitioner and complete it on your schedule!
Don't forget that there is a one-time requirement that any veterinarian who applies for an initial Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) permit or who applies to renew a CDS permit must first take 2 CE hours in prescribing or dispensing CDS. You must attest to taking these credit hours when you apply for or renew your CDS permit.
We've researched the Maryland Board's regulations, so you don't have to!
