June 30, 2025, is the next license renewal deadline in Maryland.
All 18 hours can be obtained online.
12 CE hours must be directed toward the improvement, advancement, and extension of professional skill and knowledge relating to the practice of veterinary medicine.
No more than 6 CE hours can be directed toward non-scientific subjects related to the practice of veterinary medicine such as practice management topics, communications skills, state regulatory programs, or federal regulatory programs.
Controlled Substances Mandate: There is a one-time requirement of 2 CE hours in prescribing or dispensing controlled dangerous substances when applying for or renewing a CDS permit per the Requirements for CDS Permits.
Maryland veterinarians who are applying for or renewing a Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) permit have a one-time requirement to take 2 CE hours in prescribing or dispensing controlled dangerous substances.

You can't take more than 6 hours directed toward non-scientific subjects related to the practice of veterinary medicine such as practice management topics, communications skills, state regulatory programs, or federal regulatory programs.

Don't forget that there is a one-time requirement that any veterinarian who applies for an initial Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) permit or who applies to renew a CDS permit must first take 2 CE hours in prescribing or dispensing CDS. You must attest to taking these credit hours when you apply for or renew your CDS permit.
